IF you’re a Democrat and you go on Fox News, you should expect to be disrespected, and that’s exactly what happened to Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson during her interview with Fox’s Neil Cavuto.
To Cavuto’s credit, he wasn’t the first to step out line, considering that it was the Congresswoman who told him to “shut up”, causing the host to become aggravated, ending the segment and calling it “as waste of time.”
Cavuto became annoyed when Rep. Johnson focused her entire conversation on revenue generation and refused to point out what she’d be willing to cut.
“No, you told me things you’d do to raise taxes. That’s what you told me. Credits, allowances, that sort of stuff. That’s what you told me” said Cavuto.
“But you’ve got to talk about revenue generation,” Rep. Johnson said.
“I know that, but it’s 100-percent of what you’re talking about, congresswoman,” Cavuto quipped.
“It is not 100 percent of what I’m talking about,” she responded, before adding: “If you’d shut up for just a second, I would try.”
“You’ve got to tell me one thing you’d cut,” Cavuto pressed. “I beg you congresswoman, one thing that you would say, ‘I would cut this.’ What would it be?”
After a few seconds, Cavuto shot back, saying: “You don’t know, do you?”
“Well, yes I do know,” she replied, “but I have to have time to explain it. I can’t tell you I’m going to walk in and cut this and cut that. First of all, it has to have some type of dialogue. We have not had that.”
Then, after Rep. Johnson said that the Democrats had already identified cuts, Cavuto said, “Well, you haven’t done that. You haven’t done that. You haven’t done that. But hope springs eternal, ma’am. And, congresswoman, I want to get you back, but this was a total waste of time.”
Fox is a propaganda network for sure, but it’s hard to malign Cavuto when it’s obvious that Rep. Johnson arrived at the interview unprepared. If she wants to do Democrats, and President Obama, a favor, she should do her homework before going on air.
