I don't agree with everything he said, but his intent to challenge students to think for themselves and not determine their self-worth by their grade is right on! Every school needs diagnostic-prescriptive learning and every student needs an individual learning plan. It's not impossible. I do it every day. Thanks

OMG!!! David I just got goose bumps... My grandfather used to tell me get your education.... learn study your lessons.... He used to say... don't worry about tests and grades... YOU (I) define my greatness.... but to grasp as much Academia as impossible... He taught me more than any book... But because of his continuous persistance... he gave me the greatest gift in this life... THE love of BOOKS and the Love of Being open minded and naturally inquisitive... And never think that anything I have to say or ask is DUMB!!! A dumb question is an unasked question.... was that a quote from some famous philosopher? uuummm but in the event... I did as I was instructed.... and it never dawned on me until I was 18 years old and heading off to college.... that my grandfather was illiterate.... Imagine that .... My days must be coming to a near... because for as of lately ..... All I can hear are the whispers of my Ancestors... Particularly my grandfather...

Cynthia Merrill.... You have a marvelous ability to think for yourself because you used caution in analyzing what your grandfather was advising you to do. When we get to the point where we don't think that we need to listen to those who have far more experience than ourselves then that is no more than a display of blind arrogance. When you're arrogant, you are saying that you think you no better even though you are obviously deficient of experience. This is a very foolish way of thinking. many of our youth have wound up in the grave yard because of their refusal to reason with the wisdom of experience. The key word here is "EXPERIENCE." Experienced knowledge is the best knowledge...hands down!!!
