Lil Wayne joins chorus of rappers ripping Romney (546 hits)

It doesn’t look like Mitt Romney has the hip-hop world’s approval.

Lil Wayne is the most recent rapper to declare his opposition to the Republican presidential candidate.

A line can be found on his track “Cashed Out”, a cover of southern rapper Ca$h Out’s summer anthem “Cashing Out,” slamming Romney.

The intro of the song, found on his mixtape Dedication 4, features a voice saying, “As another election year upon us. These last four years been good to me. A couple of dollars in a couple different bank accounts. Some here, some off shore. Ni**a call me Mitch Romney!”

One Huffington Post writer suggests the misnomer is because “this person wanted you to notice that ‘Mitch’ rhymes with ‘b*tch.’”

Lil Wayne isn’t the first hip-hop artist to mention the GOP candidate in a derogatory way.

Kanye West, never shy in making his political opinion known, made a reference to Romney in the new G.O.O.D. Music album Cruel Summer last week. On the track “To The World,” West raps, “I’m just trying to protect my stacks / Mitt Romney don’t pay no tax.”

And earlier this month, Nicki Minaj made waves when she seemingly endorsed Romney on her verse in “Mercy” on the same Lil Wayne mixtape.

“I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney,” she rapped. “You lazy b*tches is f**king up the economy.”

President Barack Obama responded to her lyrics during a local radio interview saying that since Minaj likes to play different characters, he’s not sure “what’s going on there.”

Minaj tweeted later, “Ha! Thank you for understanding my creative humor & sarcasm Mr. President, the smart ones always do…*sends love & support* @barackobama”

The hip-hop community’s support for the president was also on display earlier this week when Jay-Z and Beyoncé co-hosted a ritzy fundraiser for him. President Barack Obama attended the $40,000 a plate event at the rap icon’s 40/40 club in New York City, and the A-list couple was able to raise about $4 million for his re-election campaign.
