In the late 1990s, a relationship expert named Iyanla Vanzant graced “The Oprah Winfrey Show” every Tuesday afternoon, providing motivational and inspirational relationship tips to Oprah’s audiences. Iyanla’s quick rise to fame ended seemingly just as fast as it started. Iyanla wanted to take a shot at her own television show. Unfortunately, the show lasted only one season and Iyanla found herself from in front of the flashing lights to the unemployment line. Not only did Iyanla lose her television exposure, she lost her home, money, book deals and marriage. She even saw her daughter pass away from cancer. It had turned into a terrible, spiraling downfall situation. It was one of those downfalls that if we were honest, a lot of us could never see ourselves every recovering. Despite her trials and tribulations, Iyanla Vanzant found a way through God and changes in her lifestyle to navigate through where she was in life and deal with the cards that life had handed her. She is now telling her amazing story to others; even with her tremendous fall, she came back to appreciate and enjoy life to the fullest. It’s been a rocky road, but Iyanla found a way to make a life for herself after so much heartache and loss.
Iyanla’s story is a true testimony that shows us that we can all bounce back from tragedies in our lives and still push towards the passions that we have inside of us. We all have heard stories or have our own stories of triumph over tragedy. We have survived traumatizing situations. Life sometimes deals us hefty blows from deaths, financial woes, and even losses over which we have no control. It’s all about aspiring to succeed and being determined to overcome when life’s worst situations occur. We have to be honest and realize that life is going to happen! What I mean by “LIFE” is that no one is exempt from tragedies; we have to be able to bring our minds, bodies, and souls to a point of pushing past the tragedies in order to be successful. No matter if there are tragedies deep and far in our past, we have to find the focus and drive to get past the “What Happened!” moments and push ourselves into the “Let’s make it happen!” stages in our lives. How do we move on from tragedies that can be so dramatic, especially when it feels as if those tragedies threaten our dreams?
1. You Have To “WANT IT” Bad Enough: No matter what comes along in your life, you have to want your passions and dreams so much that you will not let obstacles deter your desires and successes for any reason.
2. Your Future Is Brighter Than Your Past: No matter how bad your past may have been, the dreams and passions that you are shooting for are greater than any situation that you have experienced. You can overcome any hindrances from your past with forgiving, forgetting, and moving on from your past hurts and pains.
3. No Regrets…No Excuses!: Even with past failures, we have to remember that they are nothing to be ashamed of or regret! Every attempt to become successful has provided you with knowledge. Now, you know what to do and what not to do during your next attempt. Finally, there are no excuses when it comes to success! A person has to be able to speak positives into his or her life situations. Don’t allow anything to stop you from becoming successful! Combat all negative excuses “not too” succeed with immediate positive responses to succeed! Continue working hard and staying focused on doing whatever you can to strive towards success and put your PASSION INTO ACTION!
